Ongoing Class Descriptions
An ongoing class is a class that is continuous and does not follow the typical Summer, Winter, Fall & Spring class session start and end dates. New students are always welcome to join an ongoing class at any time as the instructors have developed teaching methods to incorporate new students into their classes without holding back the current students.
Instructors will allow you take one free class prior to signing up. The pass card is ideal because it allows you the freedom of only coming when it is convenient for you. You are only charged a class if you attend, not if you miss one. A pass card is good for 10 classes and does not expire. Not all ongoing classes go all year long so once the season comes to an end you may purchase just enough classes to get you through to the end of the season.
A few things to remember about the pass card:
- The card is only good for the instructor it was purchased; however, you may attend any class the instructor is teaching
- Some classes have been converted to our new pass card system which allows you to swipe at the front desk located in the main Community Center lobby. All ongoing classes will eventually be converted to this electronic swipe pass card.

YOU MUST SIGN UP FOR THESE CLASSES IN PERSON AT THE JUPITER COMMUNITY CENTER. Ongoing class registration is continuously open to Residents of Incorporated Jupiter and Non-Residents. Ongoing classes use a 10 Class Pass which doesn’t expire.
Stretch and Strengthen
Flexibility and strength training in an action packed hour. This class has basic physical training throughout the workout. (Instructor: Coach Jake)
Zumba combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries. It is fun and easy to do. Zumba is not only good for the body but also great for the mind. (Instructor: Janice Vargas)
Yoga for Veterans
Connected Warriors is the largest community-based volunteer organization in the United States offering evidence based Trauma-Conscious Yoga Therapy to service members, veterans and their families at no cost.(Instructors: Beth Green and Tom Sheridan)
Adult Self Defense
Through the study of Okinawan Shorin Ryu Karate, learn and develop: Confidence, Reaction Training, Fitness and Weight control, and flexibility. (Instructors: Robert Neier (4th degree black belt), Kevin Fruge’ (2nd degree black belt), Howard Freedland (2nd degree black belt)
Silver Sneakers FLEX
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscle strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Workout is suitable for beginning and intermediate skill levels. For more information about the Silver Sneakers program visit their website. This may be free for you to participate if you have eligible health insurance. Check with your provider or call the instructor. If it is not covered, the cost is $3 per class. Classes are suitable for all ages focusing on breath awareness with the use of proper body alignment and relaxation to increase flexibility, balance and strength. Concludes with a period of guided meditation to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. (Instructor: Karen Babcock)
Total Body Toning
As women age, muscle tissue is lost, increasing the tendency to develop fat. This class will help to re-define and firm muscles by using hand weights, balls and rubber bands to sculpt the whole body. Weight bearing and strength training exercises provide quicker weight loss, increase balance, and help build bone density to prevent osteoporosis. Class concludes with stretching exercises to keep you flexible making muscles less prone to injury. (Instructors: Nancy Kelley and Kathy Andio)
The Charleston, Cha Cha, Line Dancing, Disco and Zumba steps are just a few of the steps you will enjoy dancing in these easy-to-follow aerobic dance routines. You won’t even realize that you are actually exercising in this one exhilarating hour of calorie-burning FUN! Class includes strength training exercises to sculpt arms, flatten stomach and tighten buttocks and thighs. No floor exercises! (Instructor: Kathy Andio)
Beginner through experienced participants will enjoy this class that focuses on stress relief, strengthening of the muscles, flexibility and light cardiovascular fitness. Yoga is safe exercise for most people and helps to alleviate aches, improve sleep and increase muscular endurance and coordination. (Instructor: Beth Green)
Classes combine relaxation, flexibility, balance and breath awareness. Stretch and tone your body while relaxing your mind and energizing your spirit, Ideal for those concerned with injuries. (Instructor: Nicole Leavell)
