  1. Columbus ships, the Nina and the Pinta, to land in Jupiter!

    On Friday, March 22, the ‘Pinta’ and the ‘Nina’, replicas of Columbus’ Ships, will be open at Harbourside Place until their departure early Monday morning, April 1. The ‘Nina’ was built by hand, and is considered “the most historically correct Columbus replica ever built.” In 2005, the ‘Pinta’, also a caravel, was launched in Brazil. Both ships tour together as an enhanced ‘sailing museum’ to educate the public and school children on the ‘caravel’, a Portuguese ship used by early explorers. Before, the Old World and the New remained separate and distinct continents and ever since their fates have been bound together for better or for worse. While in port, the public is invited to visit the ships for a walk-aboard, self-guided tour. No reservations necessary.   2. Lighthouse Lectures: Coast Guard in Jupiter & Hobe Sound

    The Lighthouse Service merged with the Coast Guard in 1939, but the Coast Guard has had a much larger role in our area than many people recognize. Historian Josh Liller will cover not only the military operation of the lighthouse, but also the local Loran Stations. This presentation will feature the latest research and photos from the Coast Guard Historian’s office and several servicemen assigned here. Q&A will follow. Free to the public.   3. Official Book Launch & Signing with Author Amy Byer Shainman

    March 29, 2019, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ Temple Beth AM

    Local author and health blogger Amy Byer Shainman is launching her new book, “Resurrection Lily: The BRCA Gene, Hereditary Cancer & Lifesaving Whispers from the Grandmother I Never Knew,” Friday March 29th at Temple Beth AM. There will be an author reception before the Friday night service followed by an author interview and book signing. Shainman, also known as the BRCA Responder, has established herself as a leading advocate for those with BRCA and other hereditary cancer syndromes. Similar to Angelina Jolie who famously shared her BRCA story, Shainman provides firsthand insight into the patient experience as well as crucial scientific facts from local medical experts and poignant stories of those close to her who went through similar circumstances.
