Lecture Series - Freshwater Fisheries

Friday, January 6, 2023

Join us at the River Center for our monthly lecture series! Our January speaker is Josh Beaulaurier, Fishery Biologist of Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, Division of Freshwater Fisheries Management. Josh Will be speaking on Freshwater Fisheries Management and our Community. Freshwater Fisheries management is more than meets the eye. Sampling water bodies for the understanding of the fish community is the basic concept that people think fishery biologist do but it is a lot more complex than that. It is also connecting people to fishing for the first time as well as answering questions about fish and their habitat. Getting our youth out into the outdoors to have them trying things they have not done before like fishing. It is also helping agencies understand the fish community where they do not have the equipment or staff, and providing outreach materials to stakeholders for specific issues. Prior to the lecture a light lunch will be provided.
