During holidays such as the Fourth of July or New Year's Eve, fireworks add fun to the family festivities but can be dangerous when not used properly. Check out these simple tips that will keep you safe while you enjoy the beauty of fireworks.

  • Never allow children to handle fireworks
  • Never use fireworks while impaired
  • Never hold lighted fireworks in your hand
  • Use a clear and open outdoor space for fireworks
  • Never point or throw fireworks at a person or animal
  • Only light one firework at a time
  • Maintain a safe distance after lighting a firework
  • Never ignite fireworks in a container
  • Do not try to relight malfunctioning fireworks
  • Keep a bucket of water nearby to fully extinguish fireworks
  • Respect your neighbors
