The Underwater Recovery Unit is comprised of officers specially trained to deal with any incident occurring in, on, or under the various bodies of water located within the Town of Jupiter. The unit members have a overall duty and responsibility to perform rescues and protect life and property.
The members of the Underwater Recovery Team (URT) consist of police divers that are certified "Underwater Investigators" and are trained to conduct underwater crime scene investigations. Assisting the police divers in their efforts is a police tender.
The investigations consist of recovery and documentation of evidence in any underwater environment, including weapons, stolen property, vehicles and cadavers. The Underwater Recovery Unit provides support for both the uniform patrol and criminal investigation sections by conducting evidence recovery, investigation and port security.
With Jupiter having an ocean access inlet, our URT divers have assisted federal and state agencies with various operations developed to protect our shoreline from illegal activities.
