The Jupiter Police Department recognizes that crime prevention is a team effort between the police and the community they serve. An important part of Jupiter’s community is the employees that dedicated themselves to making Jupiter such a wonderful place to live and work. In an effort to partner with these employees, the Jupiter Police Department has been developing the Workers On Watch (WOW) program.
The purpose of the Workers On Watch program is to enlist Town employees, and employees of companies that conduct business within the Town of Jupiter, to provide assistance to the town by reporting conditions which need immediate attention. These conditions could be opportunities for crimes, suspicious persons and vehicles, and quality of life issues that that may promote or allow undesired activities to take place within our community. Many Town of Jupiter employees are consistently in our neighborhoods, parks and roadways. These employees can be a valuable resource by simply being more eyes and ears looking out for the wellbeing of our community.
The program begins by educating our employees on what to be looking for. They are also instructed on what information is important to relay to the police department to aid in initiating an efficient and proactive response to the issue. The employees receive this training from a police officer in the form of brief workshops. Once the employees know what to look for and how to report it, they are encouraged to contact the police department. The police department can then work with the appropriate town services, if necessary, to formulate the best response to the issue.
The WOW program is just one of the many ways your Jupiter Police Department is using community partnerships in "Setting the Benchmark for Excellence."
