Water & Stormwater Utilities
Welcome to the Town of Jupiter Utilities home page!

Important Message:

To maintain the water quality in our distribution system, Jupiter Utilities will temporarily modify the disinfection used by our water treatment facility. Typically, chlorine in combination with ammonia (chloramination) is used by Jupiter Utilities for water system disinfection. For approximately one month, beginning August 31 and ending September 28, Jupiter will be using chlorine without ammonia, which may cause a chlorine taste or odor in the tap water. Customers can safely drink the water during the free chlorine maintenance as it continues to protect and promote distribution system water quality. This temporary change in our treatment process is a standard industry practice performed in accordance with State and Federal drinking water regulations.

Additionally, we will conduct flushing from fire hydrants and blow-offs at the end of our pipes to further improve water quality. During this period, we will sample and test our water to monitor the effectiveness of the temporary modification.

Kidney dialysis users should consult their physician about taking precautions related to the change in disinfection. Owners of tropical fish aquariums and managers of stores and restaurants with fish and shellfish holding tanks are advised that both types of disinfectants are toxic to aquatic animals and should seek professional advice during this change.

About the Utility
Jupiter Utilities consists of sixty-six employees dedicated to meeting your daily water and stormwater service needs.

The Town’s Utility is committed to maintaining its established role in the industry as a standard of excellence with a commitment to a sustainable community in concert with our unique environment.

Jupiter's Water Treatment Facility includes the most advanced treatment technologies providing the best drinking water with the least demand on our local fresh water resources.

In 1978, the Town of Jupiter purchased the water system from Tri-Southern Utilities. At the time, the system's average daily flow was only 2.5 million gallons per day and served a population of approximately 15,000 people.

Today, the water utility is capable of producing 30 million gallons a day of ultra-pure drinking water. It serves more than 80,000 people living in Jupiter, Juno Beach, and unincorporated areas of Palm Beach and Martin Counties.
