Application Process
Open PositionsJupiter Police Department
Looking for a rewarding career in law enforcement with the police department that is setting the benchmark for excellence?  You can apply online through our Human Resources Current Career Opportunities page. We are not currently accepting applications for the volunteer Auxiliary Police Officer position. For more information, please visit our Auxiliary Program page.

All applications received will be retained for a period of three years, as per the State of Florida's records retention requirements.  Those applicants not selected for a position may reapply when a position vacancy becomes available.

Selection Process
The initial application will be screened for minimum qualifications. You will receive notification, by mail, of the receipt of your application. Please do not telephone for this information due to the large number of applicants and time length of processing. The Town of Jupiter accepts applications from non-certified applicants who are now in the academy; however, preference shall be given to those applicants who are certified.

Qualified Applicants
As positions become available, qualified applicants are selected to move forward in the process. Qualified, selected applicants will be notified of their eligibility to receive the second portion of the application package. This part of the application should be completed, including all attachments, and submitted to Human Resources.

The second portion of the application will be reviewed and as positions are available, qualified, applicants will be contacted and may be invited to attend a formal interview (Police Oral Review Board). Out-of-State applicants will always be provided adequate notice to accommodate travel arrangements.

After the Formal Interview
Applicants who successfully complete the formal interview, and are selected to continue with the process, will then complete the following:
  • Extensive Background Investigation
  • Conditional Offer of Employment
  • Truth Verification Examination (CVSA)
  • Medical Examination & Drug Screen
  • Psychological Examination
  • Formal Interview with Chief of Police

Once an applicant has been selected to move into background investigation, it is anticipated that the process will take approximately ten weeks (dependent on applicant's employment and residency history).

Post-conditional offer testing for out-of-state applicants will be scheduled on consecutive days with adequate notice for the applicant to make travel arrangements.
