Do you have a backyard swimming pool built before 2000 and children under the age of 5? If so, you might be eligible for a Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Volunteer to come to your home and provide a free pool safety evaluation and possibly a free door alarm (including installation). According to the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Palm Beach County, children ages 1-4 have the highest drowning rate based on population in Palm Beach County. The majority of these drowning incidents happen in backyard swimming pools due to a lapse in supervision and barrier protection.
Please visit www.flsafepools.com and provide your information. If you qualify for this free service, a representative will contact you. Be aware, alarms are in limited supply and the days and times of the evaluation and installation will be determined by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue’s Volunteer Battalion.
