The Jupiter Open Space Program 
Jupiter Open Space Program Acquisition Criteria

One of the first steps in the selection of potential project sites is the evaluation of the property using a set of nine questions.  A property receiving four positive responses qualifies for further analysis.

Environmentally Sensitive Lands and Unique Natural Assets

1. Is the parcel an "environmentally sensitive: area as defined by the Town's Comprehensive Plan (Policy 1.1.2 of the Conservation Element)?

2. Does the parcel have unique natural features (e.g., waterway frontage)?

Leveraging Opportunities

3. Is this project eligible for a county, state, federal or private grant program that would fund purchase the land or project improvements?

Parcels that Create or Expand Open Space Areas

4. Is the property adjacent to a park, waterway, greenway or other open space?

5. does the parcel allow for open space in a area of the town in which there is limited or no open space?

6. Based on its scenic qualities, size, historic and cultural values, and habitats suitable for native wildlife, does the property have potential for development as a natural area, greenway/blueway connection, or open space conservation?

Traffic Mitigation

7. Could development of this property have a significant level of service impact on town roadways?

8. In terms of traffic, will there be level of service concerns in the area of this property at build out?

Public Access to Natural Areas

9. Does the parcel provide public access to areas that have been difficult to visit?
