The Traffic Officers are responsible for enforcing Florida's Uniform Traffic Laws, investigation of vehicle crashes, staffing unsupervised school crossings, and providing traffic control and escorts for VIP motorcades, as well as community activities such as the annual Christmas and Homecoming parades.
Officers assigned to traffic receive specialized training in the areas of Accident Investigation and Reconstruction. Traffic Officers also participate in various local, state and national campaigns geared toward educating the public in various safe driving skills.
These officers also undertake directed assignments that target high frequency crash locations (which results in reduction of crashes), and intensified D.U.I. enforcement.
