In November, 2014, the first phase of a project to redesign A1A in the Inlet Village from US1 to Jupiter Beach Road began. The first phase of the project will include utility under-grounding and installation of drainage systems. Phase two, began in the Summer of 2015, will include redesigning the roadway to enhance pedestrian access, lighting, bicycle lanes, sidewalks and landscaping. During each phase of the construction, lane closures and lane shifting will occur, but the roadway will be open to through traffic, and the businesses within the Inlet Village will remain open and accessible. Phase two should be complete in Spring, 2016.
Beginning Thursday, March 24, 2016, traffic will shift as follows in order to allow for the construction of medians in the center of the roadway:
Southbound traffic will be shifted right just south of US 1. There will be no impact to northbound traffic at this location.
Northbound traffic will be shifted right just south of Lighthouse Mini Golf. Southbound traffic at this location will be shifted to the right.
Two lanes will be available for travel. When necessary, flagmen will manage traffic during temporary lane closures.
Additional trucking and construction traffic should be anticipated during the next 3 weeks due to daily paving operations.
Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians should exercise caution when driving, riding or walking through the project area. Patience, caution, and slow speeds are encouraged by all modes of travel.
